Staying Positive

I am one of those people who avoids watching the news and have limited my exposure to social media and other places where people are not nice to each other. I really try to stay away from things that drain my energy. For the most part, it works.
This week I did scroll by a post that I went back to because it showed a photo of a disabled person. The headline of the post caught my eye and I can't remember the exact wording but obviously, it was interesting to me. Long story short, this person is an influencer who is married and was being attacked online by people with horrible messages. When I say 'horrible' I REALLY mean it. I will not repeat them but what was said would not be anything I would say to my worst enemy.
As I read this post, I of course felt really bad for this person, no one should be treated like this in any way. The keyboard cowards who feel like they can type anything to anyone make me so angry.
And isn't it interesting that negative posts and comments seem like they multiply into huge numbers and positive do not. Why????
Are we (the collective we) so unhappy that we want to spread the unhappiness? Misery seems to love company. After feeling angry, I actually feel sad for the people who write these horrible messages of hate. How sad their lives must be if the only thing they can do to feel better is to hurt other people.
So what to do?
Here's what I want to do-I want to keep doing what I'm doing-sharing positive messages with midlife women and anyone else who will listen.
Positivity can spread too and in today's divisive society I believe we are all craving things that make us feel good. If you feel good, it shows in your interactions and energy. Everyone you interact with will see and feel it and that helps them feel more positive too.
In other words, our positive energy attracts others and together we create a wave of goodness that radiates out. Fight against the negative in a good way-does that make sense? Refuse to be dragged down-write in your gratitude journal, take a walk outside, call your bestie, whatever you do to increase your positive vibes.

While it's easy to get sucked into negative energy, DO NOT DO IT! Resist the urge to respond in kind and find your way of spreading positive energy.
If you need help with this, I have some tools for you starting with "Your Daily Dose of Courage" affirmation cards. You can find them in my online shop.
Until next time, take care of your beautiful self!
