The Power of Women: Connection and Community

Have you ever had an experience that energized you so much that you had to do something? You lay awake at night revisiting the great conversations you had with amazing people and imagining what will come out of it. You know it's a turning point and you can feel the anticipation of what's ahead, even if you don't know exactly what that looks like.
That's what happened to me this week when I participated in an event called #WomenGettingVisible. It was a gathering of women who spoke about many different topics and yet each talk connected to at least one other in beautiful ways.

Highlights of the Event
I led an activity based on my "It's Not Just You" talk to help the women become aware of the language they use that can quietly minimize them. I even found some new insights from them as we interacted and shared the messages during that activity.
We ended the 3-day event by creating new stories and most of us shared them with the group. I was reluctant at first to share mine but that only lasted a short time because I felt safe to share something vulnerable.
What Happened After
I came away from the experience with a new sense of confidence; I see even bigger things ahead for me and I am so excited. If you have been following along with my journey, you know I have been focusing on the podcast and making it my voice too. I have realized that part of me has been feeling that where I'm at now is good enough. Why think bigger?
Well I'm here to tell you right now: I am thinking BIGGER!
I am getting more visible and even though I can't see the details, I know that my impact is going to be felt by many.
Why This Connection Was So Amazing
My experience is not unique; all of the other women voiced similar feelings during and after the event. It truly was magical.
So what made it so amazing? Here's what I believe:
The women there were open and ready to receive
They brought their stories and wisdom and shared freely
The atmosphere created by the founders of this event was safe for all
The majority of us were women in midlife
I have had other experiences with groups of women who truly connected and supported each other. In fact, one such event started me on the path to Midlife with Courageâ„¢ years ago.
When women in midlife come together, magic happens.
Why? Because we realize we are in very similar journeys and the challenges we face are easier when we face them together. We form a community when we are together and even if it's only for 3 days in-person, we feel the effects long after.
Find your community so you can experience these amazing connections. If you would like to be part of the Midlife with Courageâ„¢ community, make sure you subscribe to my newsletter and/or join my Facebook group.
Until next time, take care of your beautiful self!
